Chris Wilder’s words as Sheffield United man signs contract extension

Sheffield United have announced that veteran goalkeeper Adam Davies has extended his two-year contract with the Blades. The Wales international played just once in all competitions last season, which came in the Carabao Cup penalty shoot-out defeat to Lincoln City.

Since signing for United on a free transfer from Stoke City in January 2022, Davies has made a total of 11 competitive appearances, keeping four clean sheets in the process.

Chris Wilder is delighted to finally get a contract extension over the line, he said: “Of course we know Adam and his attributes very well. He is a popular member of the dressing room and will provide healthy competition in the goalkeeping department.”

Davies will once again look to push for Sheffield United’s first-choice goalkeeper, who is yet to be decided following the recent departure of Wes Foderingham to West Ham United following the expiry of his contract with the Blades.

In terms of number one picks, the Blades have been rumored to be extremely keen on Plymouth Argyle’s Michael Cooper, who has snubbed contract extension talks with just 12 months remaining on his deal. Meanwhile, interest in Ivo Grbic is growing and the Croatian wants to return to Spain.
