Hammersmith and Chiswick 2024 general election results in full as winner wins majority of 15,000

Labour’s Andy Slaughter won the new Hammersmith and Chiswick seat by a margin of more than 15,000 votes. Mr Slaughter, who has been MP for the former Hammersmith constituency since 2010, took home a total of 24,073 votes, ahead of Tory candidate Andrew Dinsmore in second place with 8,783.

Made up of an amalgamation of Hammersmith and part of the Brentford and Isleworth constituency, the seat was projected to be an easy win for Labor in the run-up to the election. In 2019 Mr Slaughter took the Hammersmith seat with a majority of 17,847.

Turnout this year was 61 percent, out of a total electorate of 75,860.

Following the announcement, Ms Slaughter thanked the other candidates for running “a really decent and civilized election”, praising the standard of the hustings and turning out to vote.

He also recognized the addition of Chiswick wards to his old Hammersmith seat. “I did everything I could in a slightly hastily arranged election to make myself known and meet people in Chiswick. I realize I still have a long way to go, but it’s a real pleasure. It’s so fantastic. the area to represent”.

Since becoming an MP, Mr Slaughter has held positions in both government and opposition, including Shadow Housing and Justice Ministers and Shadow Solicitor General. Before entering Parliament, he was a professional lawyer.
