Former Liverpool goalkeeper Adam Bogdan admitted he was stunned when he first learned of their interest.

In the summer of 2015, the Reds managed to stop the Hungarian free-kick at Bolton Wanderers. At the time, Bogdan was the second choice for the championship team, which had finished 18th in the second tier.

Although there has been interest in the Hungarian’s services from other clubs in Europe, the now 36-year-old did not know what the future held for him in football. That was until he got a call from his agent saying Brendan Rodgers was interested.

Despite playing just six times for the Reds during his first season, before loan spells at Wigan Athletic and Hibernian, Bogdan holds his time at Liverpool in high regard.

Speaking exclusively to Ladbrokes Fanzone, Bogdan spoke about how his move to Anfield came about. He said: “As I was crossing the border I got a call from my agent.

“He told me it looked like Liverpool were going to get in touch. It was incredible for me. I was so happy, I was so proud and so excited.

“All these emotions, they were so huge. I wasn’t afraid, or anything like that; I was ready for it. I knew the standard would be higher, but I was ready. It’s something I was really proud of. .”
