DREAM’s £47million move has been revealed as the Reds’ target

Liverpool’s interest in Athletic Club star Nico Williams could count for little as the 21-year-old is reportedly keen to join Barcelona.

The left winger, who impressed at Euro 2024 this summer with Spain, has been heavily linked with a summer move, with Liverpool among the many teams interested in his signature.

The youngster would set the Reds back just £47m due to a release clause in his current contract, although his reported wage demands of more than £300,000-a-week could have prevented Liverpool from making a move .

But Liverpool’s admiration for the player may not matter at the end of the transfer window, with Williams set to reject Premier League advances in a bid to secure a move to Barcelona, according to HITC.

NICO WILLIAMS MISSED BY THE BOAT TRANSFER

According to the report, Barça president Joan Laporta has already approved a deal for Williams, with the exciting Spaniard a priority target for new coach Hansi Flick.

Despite their financial difficulties, La Blaugrana are keen to get a deal done this summer and Williams is also keen to play for the Catalan giants – where he will team up with fellow internationals Pedri and Lamine Yamal.

However, a deal could hinge on Barca’s ability to offload Raphinha and Ferran Torres for big money in the coming weeks. Williams has “no interest” in moving to England under the HITC.

A potential transfer from Barca for Williams could have huge ramifications. The Reds would miss out on one of their summer targets but would also end any interest the Spanish side have in Liverpool star Luis Diaz, who plays in the same position as the Athletic Club striker.

Barca have been heavily linked with a move for Diaz in recent months and Liverpool could be willing to listen to offers of around £50million for their Colombian dynamo.

Barca are not in a strong enough financial position to sign both players and probably wouldn’t want to, given that they perform similar functions.
