Revealed: When Wigan Warriors will face Warrington Wolves in Las Vegas

It was reported earlier this week that next year’s Super League match in Las Vegas will be between Wigan Warriors and Warrington Wolves and now there is further information about it.

The NRL took two games to Las Vegas to launch their season this year, with the event so successful it will return in 2025, however, they are now set to take on a Super League game with Wigan Warriors take on Warrington Wolves in a replay of the 2024 Challenge Cup final.

It has now been revealed when it will take place by Sky Sports’ Jenna Brooks, who spoke ahead of Warrington’s clash with Huddersfield Giants.

The Australian revealed: “I just want to finish Vegas because we’ve been thinking, haven’t we, since the NRL launched its season earlier this year.

“Well I can tell you, maybe get your passports out and dust them off because I anticipate confirmation early next week that Super League Round 3 between Wigan Warriors and Warrington Wolves will take place in Las Vegas.

“So are England women facing Australia, the world champions.”

It was confirmed earlier in the week that England Women will face world champions Australia, but the revelation that Wigan Warriors will face Warrington in the third round of the Super League is a huge boost for fans.

There has been talk of a Super League game heading to Las Vegas with Wigan Warriors and Warrington Wolves the reported teams, but there are also questions as to whether Super League needs to head to America and should instead focus on securing and improving the product back home before going abroad.

Regardless, the underdogs and Sky Sports’ Brian Carney reported that around 5,000 English fans were in attendance in Las Vegas for the games in early March this year.

This has been indicated by the NRL as a strategy to help continue ticket sales and more adequately fill Allegiant Stadium after it saw an attendance of just over 40,000 this year.

Speaking on SEN Radio, journalist David Riccio explained: “One of the key points for it was just the number of English fans on the ground in Vegas this year. The NRL have noticed, they’ve got the numbers on it and I think putting the spotlight on the English game, putting them in Las Vegas as well would be a major positive for the game.”

Serious About Rugby League contacted the RFL, who explained: “The possibility of Great Britain’s involvement in Las Vegas is one of a number of areas we have discussed positively with the NRL in recent months.”

It now seems almost officially confirmed that Wigan Warriors and Warrington Wolves will meet in the third round of Super League on the other side of the Atlantic.
