Croydon South General Election 2024 results are in as Chris Philp holds seat despite Labor hopeful

The Conservatives held the seat of Croydon South with 19,757 votes and a majority of 2,313 – a significant drop from their majority at the previous election, but beating poll forecasts predicting a chance of a Labor victory. The total number of votes in the constituency was 49,943, with a turnout of 66% in the 2024 general election.

The constituency was created in 1974 and has always been represented by the Conservatives since then. It covers the Croydon Council wards of Coulsdon Town, Kenley, Old Coulsdon, Park Hill and Whitgift, Purley and Woodcote, Purley Oaks and Riddlesdown, Sanderstead and South Croydon.

Chris Philp became the MP for the area in 2015. In 2019 he retained his seat with a majority of 12,339 votes to 30,985 votes to the 18,646 votes of the second-placed Labor candidate.

Mark Robin Lionel Samuel, Independent: 173 votes
