Jamie Shackleton’s first words as a Sheffield United player: ‘I leave everything on the pitch’

Sheffield United have secured the signature of versatile midfielder Jamie Shackleton, it was confirmed on Thursday afternoon. The 24-year-old has penned a three-year deal with the Blades after turning down a contract extension from Leeds United earlier this summer.

Shackleton played over 80 times in the Championship for Leeds United and Millwall. He also made 27 Premier League appearances. Additionally, he split the majority of his games between central midfield and right-back, while even making two appearances at left-back.

The 24-year-old is a high-energy type of player and could be a key piece to the team’s depth when the busy periods of matches start to take shape. Also, as touched on in an analysis piece on United’s first signing: He is a brilliant carrier of the football and prefers to get the ball forward by carrying rather than passing, which could be very useful if United need a player who can drive the ball. team forward to protect the lead in the final stages of the games.

Speaking for the first time as Blade, Shackleton commented, via SUTV:

“I’m delighted to be here and after missing the first two days of pre-season I just want to get out there with the rest of the boys. The manager has told me a lot, what he expects from me and how he sees a lot of things in me that he wants at Sheffield United, so hopefully it will be a good game.

“I played a lot of games in the Championship and Leeds and on loan at Millwall, both sets of those fans demand a lot from you and I’m sure it will be no different here.

“One hundred percent is a given where I’ve played and I’m that kind of player, I put everything in and leave everything on the field. I have a few links to the Blades myself and they have nothing but positive things to say about the club.”
