Gordon SHOWDOWN, Williams DREAM movement and Guehi INTEREST

Liverpool’s summer transfer window has yet to explode into life, but that hasn’t stopped the rumours.

There have been strong links between the Reds and former Everton star Anthony Gordon, with a major upgrade revealed. Liverpool are also eyeing a new centre-back, according to reports, while a new defensive midfielder is not out of the question.

Here’s all the latest Liverpool transfer news.

NEWCASTLE FEAR LIVERPOOL ASSAULT FOR ANTHONY GORDON

Newcastle United have appointed a new sporting director in Paul Mitchell and one of his first tasks will be to sort out the future of Liverpool target Anthony Gordon.

Gordon, 23, was the subject of transfer interest from the Reds last week after Newcastle floated the idea of a deal to alleviate some of their profit and sustainability concerns.

Ultimately, a move failed to materialize with Liverpool’s transfer chiefs abandoning talks due to Newcastle’s demands.

ChronicleLive reports that the club cannot currently predict whether Liverpool will return for Gordon before the end of the summer and that Mitchell is open to talks with his representatives.

Former Monaco boss Mitchell must also ascertain the level of interest from Liverpool in Gordon.

Gordon is under contract at Newcastle until 2026 after signing in the winter of 2023 and the report states that a new deal could be in order.

NICO WILLIAMS PREFERS MOVE TO BARCELONA

Liverpool’s interest in Athletic Club star Nico Williams could count for little as the 21-year-old is reportedly keen to join Barcelona.

The left winger, who impressed at Euro 2024 this summer with Spain, has been heavily linked with a summer move, with Liverpool among the many teams interested in his signature.

But Liverpool’s admiration for the player may not matter at the end of the transfer window, with Williams set to reject Premier League advances in a bid to secure a move to Barcelona, according to HITC.

The report states that Barça president Joan Laporta has already approved a deal for Williams, with the exciting Spaniard a priority target for new coach Hansi Flick.

However, a deal could hinge on Barca’s ability to offload Raphinha and Ferran Torres for big money in the coming weeks. Williams has “no interest” in moving to England under the HITC.

MARC GUEHI THE INTEREST OF TOMATOES

Liverpool are one of many clubs keeping a close eye on Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

“It’s been a quiet summer for Liverpool so far, but we know there’s been interest in Anthony Gordon recently and there’s been some speculation about a failed attempt to reach a trade deal with Newcastle,” Romano told Caught Offside.

“In terms of names coming up for defence, Marc Guehi has been linked with Liverpool (as well as other clubs) on several occasions and is impressing with England at the Euros.

“There is interest from many clubs but nothing close or concrete yet as he wants to focus on the tournament now and not be distracted.

“Guehi certainly remains an interesting name for this summer with a two-year contract at Crystal Palace.”

LIVERPOOL NOT INTERESTED IN RICCARDO CALAFIORI

Liverpool are not pursuing moves for Riccardo Calafiori or Piero Hincapie this summer, with the former edging closer to a move to Arsenal.

Piero Hincapie, a double winner in Germany with Bayer Leverkusen, is a long-term target.

Riccardo Calafiori, meanwhile, has been assessed by Liverpool’s transfer squad, according to a report in Athletic, but the Italian looks set to move elsewhere.

Renowned transfer journalist Ben Jacobs has now analyzed Liverpool’s centre-back plot, revealing to GIVEMESPORT that the route has gone cold on both Hincapie and Calafiori.

“I understand that Liverpool are not actively in the race for him at this stage, I have heard links with several Premier League clubs, but sources at Liverpool are downplaying the links between Calafiori and them, so it seems that they have other targets at who work,” he said.

“The same goes for Piero Hincapie, who is constantly linked with Liverpool.”

JOSHUA KIMMICH TO LEAVE BAYERN MUNICH THIS SUMMER

Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich is likely to leave Bavaria this summer after Fulham’s Joao Palhinha agreed to join the German giants, according to Romano.

Bayern are close to completing the signing of Palhinha for an initial fee of €51m, which could rise to €56m if all add-ons are met.

Palhinha’s arrival could spell the end of Liverpool target Joshua Kimmich, who is out of contract in 2025 but whose departure this summer will not come as a surprise.

Kimmich, 29, is available for between €30m and €40m, according to German reports, with Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester City, Real Madrid and Barcelona the clubs he would choose as his next destination.

“There has been a lot of speculation about Joshua Kimmich, in particular, as he is now in the final year of his contract at Bayern, and some fans have asked me if Palhinha’s arrival means he replaces him.” Romano wrote on Caught Offside.

“Let’s see what happens because Bayern still have a chance to extend Kimmich’s contract. However, the most likely scenario at the moment is for Kimmich to leave and try a new experience.”
