Leeds United are ‘expected’ to sell Junior Firpo in this summer window as he enters the final year of his contract and generates suitors.

Daniel Farke will have an advantage over his championship rivals at the beginning of the season, in that he has continuity with a large part of the team where others do not.

That’s not to say transfers won’t change his squad to some degree, but limiting them where possible could be crucial.

Junior Firpo was “expected” to be sold this summer

Junior Firpo was one of Leeds’ biggest selling points in the 23/24 season as he bounced back from fitness issues to earn the left back spot.

Eight assists are testament to his importance behind Crysencio Summerville, but with 12 months left on his contract, the Daily Mail claim he is “expected” to leave.

The club’s PSR headache has eased significantly with Archie Gray’s move to Tottenham, but it has not stopped the possibility of other key first-team players leaving in the summer months.

The sale of Marc Roca, along with Charlie Cresswell heading to Toulouse on a permanent deal, has helped in that regard, but Firpo is one of Farke’s key men who will be on his way out soon.

Will Leeds be promoted next season?

Leeds need to make a decision on Firpo as soon as possible

Shaking up the team too much not a good move for Leeds this summer and Firpo’s departure is a big hole to fill if a transfer ends up materializing as the above report suggests.

With eight assists in half a season, Firpo was a massive boost to our side when he finally got into the lineup, and that kind of quality in the final third is very hard to replicate, especially in a hurry.

If Leeds believe cashing in on the left-back is a financially worthwhile move, they need to do it as soon as possible.

There’s only a limited amount of time left before the season starts and replacing Firpo we need to make sure we have the right outlet on that channel, which is hard to come by.

Arranging a deal now, to then find a replacement sooner rather than later, could be the difference for us come August, giving the signing a pre-season to familiarize himself with Farke’s methods.

We got off to a really slow start in 23/24 because of how late our business got and that can’t happen again.
