Shocking CCTV shows city vandal break into taxi before ‘leaving in another taxi’

This is the shocking moment a vandal is caught on CCTV smashing into a taxi in an early morning rampage in Birmingham. The footage then appears to show him getting into another taxi before leaving the scene.

A parked Toyota Corolla GR Sport Hybrid is targeted as the alarm sounds on Edmund Road in the Alum Rock area of ​​Birmingham. Five high specification windows were smashed – leaving more than £1,000 worth of damage – in the break-in at around 7.30am yesterday, Thursday, July 4.




The affected engine belongs to Rozzii, a taxi hire specialist in Hockley, and West Midlands Police are investigating. The company’s chief executive, Jameel Malik, told BirminghamLive: “The damaged vehicle was one that we had hired out to a driver. Someone came and destroyed that vehicle.

“Then he got into a taxi. We tried to understand what motivation (could be behind this incident) and struggled to understand it. He used something to break the windows and the back window.”

“When something like this happens, our insurance premium goes through the roof. They were already very big”. Other reports suggested another car on the same street was vandalized around the same time, but this has not been confirmed.


A police spokesman told BirminghamLive: “We were alerted to a car being deliberately damaged in Edmund Road, Birmingham just after 7.30am today (July 4).
