The killer ambushed the victim, 19, on his way to a friend’s, then hid the knife in a bush

A 19-year-old man from north-west London has been found guilty of murdering another 19-year-old by stabbing him with a kitchen knife last year.

Police were called to Masefield Avenue in Stanmore on September 4, 2023, to reports of a man who had been stabbed. Officers and the London Ambulance Service found Anis Omar Zen suffering from stab wounds. Unfortunately, Anis died at the scene.

Saeed Ibrahim, from Stanmore, was found guilty at Inner London Crown Court of Anis’s murder after forensic analysis of the knife found near the crime scene.

Anis was on Masefield Avenue after taking a taxi to visit a friend. The taxi driver said he saw a man carrying a large knife running along the road towards Anis. After Ibrahim confronted Anis, Anis stabbed him in the chest.

Another witness at the scene saw Ibrahim getting rid of items from a bush, with police finding the knife when they searched the area. After forensic analysis of the knife, they matched the DNA to those involved in the case.

Detective Chief Inspector Laurence Smith, from the Specialist Crime Command who led the investigation, said: “Once again a family has had to sit in court to hear the details of how their loved one lost their life in a brutal and completely unjustified attack with a knife.

“Our thoughts remain with Anis’ family as they continue to struggle to come to terms with their loss.
