Man City 115 charges latest as new details emerge of hearing

A new detail has emerged about the long-awaited hearing facing Manchester City into 115 allegations of alleged breaches of the Premier League’s financial rules.

City have been accused of failing to provide full details of player and manager remuneration and of failing to co-operate with the league’s investigation. The allegations stem from matters between 209 and 2018, with the club vehemently denying the allegations and vowing to clear their names.

The case is unprecedented, so if he is found guilty, it is unclear what the punishment might be. It could be as bad as a huge points deduction or even the club being kicked out of the Premier League.

Despite being charged by the Premier League in February 2023, the complicated nature of the case means a hearing will now take place in November, 18 months after the charges were initially laid. Conformable TIMESthe case will be heard by an independent panel over a period of six weeks.

It therefore means that any news of a decision will likely take longer than other hearings that have taken place in recent months. In comparison, Everton’s hearing for breaching the Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) took just three days. The decision to deduct two points from the Toffees came about a month later.

The allegations are not the only dispute City have with the Premier League and the club are also in a battle with the league over related party transaction (APT) rules. City argued that the laws introduced by the league were illegal and took legal action.
