Armed police swoop on residential street as statement issued over ‘noise’ concerns

Armed police swooped on a residential street in Warwickshire but officers have said no gun shots were fired. Warwickshire Operational Patrol Unit (OPU) has explained the incident in Villiers Road in Kenilworth earlier today (July 6).

The team has posted on their page on Facebook that the incident passed safely following concerns about ‘noises’ heard. “Any noises heard during this incident were NOT gunfire. No firearms were discharged during the incident,” the team said.

“One person has been arrested, the incident has been resolved and there is no cause for concern.”

The team explained that part of the road had to be closed, but now it has been opened. “Thank you to local residents for their understanding during the incident, the road is now fully open,” the post concluded.
