Royal Enfield Scrambler 650 – Likelihood? » EngineOctane

Recent media reports suggest that Royal Enfield is working on new 350cc and 650cc motorcycles. If these reports are to be believed, they could give us a hint for the scrambler version of the 650 twins. Royal Enfield has 650cc roadster (Interceptor 650) and cafe racer (Continental GT 650), so by bringing the 650 scrambler, RE will be able to round out its trio portfolio quite effectively. So what will it be then? Well, let’s find out.

Character

If the RE Scrambler 650 takes shape, then it will definitely get many of the features of the scrambler. It will definitely have slightly raised handlebars compared to the Interceptor 650.

So, it will provide a more comfortable riding position.

To enhance the nature of the scrambler, one could get block pattern tires or off-road tires. Another feature the scrambler has is high ground clearance, so to give that RE it could use a different set of suspension to increase the ground clearance. Modern Scramblers have LED headlights, which should be the case with the RE Scrambler 650.

The Royal Enfield Scrambler 650 will definitely have the same engine as the Interceptor 650 and Continental 650. It is a 648 cc fuel-injected, oil-cooled twin-cylinder unit that produces a maximum power of around 47 bhp and a torque of maximum of 52 Nm. Apart from the engine, they may also share the brakes and wheels from the 650 twins. Braking duty on the 650 twin is carried out by the 320mm disc at the front and 240mm at the rear. The wheels are 18-inch spokes, this could also be the case with the Scrambler 650, however, many other scramblers also have alloy wheels.

Prices

The price of the RE Scrambler 650 will definitely stand out. The bike is likely to be a bit more expensive than the Continental GT 650; however, it will still come at a very attractive price. It will compete with other scramblers in the market like Ducati Scrambler, Benelli Leoncino 500 and Husqvarna Svartpilen 250 to some extent. However, we are very excited about this bike and hope the reports are true.
