Manchester United have reached an agreement to part ways with Donny van de Beek for good.

The Dutch midfielder moved to Old Trafford in the summer of 2020, with United agreeing to spend around £35million on the then Ajax sensation.

At the time, Van de Beek was regarded as one of the most exciting midfield talents in Europe, attracting the attention of many top clubs, including Real Madrid, with his impeccable eye for goal under Erik ten Hag.

United have won the race for the Netherlands international. However, since then, his career has declined. First, he struggled to show his talents under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the manager who signed him, then failed to impress former Ajax boss Ten Hag in Manchester.

Manchester United and Girona agree Donny van de Beek – Fabrizio Romano transfer

After four disappointing seasons, Manchester United have decided to cut ties with Donny van de Beek for good.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Red Devils have agreed to sell Van de Beek to Girona for a small initial fee. The transfer expert adds that the deal between the La Liga side and the Premier League giants “is based on add-ons”.

Based on his appearances, the fee could rise to €5 million. United could earn more based on his achievements with Girona. In addition, Romano says United also have a large sell-on clause.

If things go according to United’s plan, the final fee could come to less than €10 million.

However, the agreement is subject to the agreement of personal terms. Talks between Girona and Van de Beek are scheduled for next week.

Solskjaer’s signing spent the second half of last season on loan at Eintracht Frankfurt. His time in the Bundesliga was also far from impressive. Now his fans will be hoping he can replicate Ajax’s form in La Liga.
