Royal Enfield Thunderbird BS6 will become more modern » MotorOctane

Royal Enfield Thunderbird BS6 has been spotted a few times. Now, the latest images of the vehicle show us the full production model.

The bike is getting ready for BS6 upgrade with all these features. I have mentioned all the new changes visible on this vehicle. We even speculated a few engine changes that we can expect on this bike. So let’s start with the engine first.

The biggest change to the vehicle is that there is no shock on the bike. The gearbox also sees some changes. Now we can expect a 6-speed gearbox. The overall engine looks compact as it has lost a lot of retro elements like the kick. The throttle body now gets a housing that suggests the vehicle will get fuel injection, which will require an electronic controller. This change will be the basis of the BS6 model. Another change to the vehicle will be seen with the small exhaust pipe. This was the characteristic feature of the bike. The vehicle gets a catalytic converter in front of the rear wheel. The same setup is seen on the Royal Enfield Classic which was spotted while being tested for BS6.

As for the chassis of the vehicle, there is a change in the driver’s triangle. The mounts have been placed two or three inches further, making it more like a cruiser. The seats were more relaxed.

The vehicle is also built on a new double cradle chassis. The rear brake was moved to the right side and the chain was moved to the left side.

In the cosmetics department, there’s a new single-bridge instrument cluster. The twin-pod system felt dated and also missed a speedometer. We also hope to see a bright indicator of change in this new group. It might get more information like fuel efficiency and range. The company also plans to get all LED lighting on the new vehicle. All this information is based on the vehicle that was spied on.

The rear if the bike will also have a drastic change. The Royal Enfield Thunderbird BS6’s tank will also get slight changes and the side panels will also be swept back. The company finally decided to do away with the offset fuel tank that was on the older vehicle. The bike will also get a new Y-spoke alloy wheel design.

The cost of the vehicle is something that will include the new components for BS6 emissions as well as the new styling features that will be introduced on the vehicle. The vehicle will cost a premium of Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000 over the existing range. The current model of the vehicle is priced between Rs 1.56 lakhs – Rs 2.15 lakhs. This bike is a unique cruiser on the market. The only bike that comes close to it is the Bajaj Dominar. If you want to read more about Bajaj Dominar, click on the link below.
