Royal Enfield Himalayan website is officially online » MotorOctane

Royal Enfield has updated their website to include their all new tour, the Himalaya. There are no specs or other details available there yet, but there are plenty of images and a large video gallery.

Royal Enfield reveals that the Himalayan is powered by a single-cylinder, ‘LS400’ oil-cooled, overhead cam engine that produces 25bhp on the prototype model and is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The engine will have a very long oil change interval of 10,000 km and a spark plug change interval of 25,000 km. The bike is claimed to cruise comfortably at speeds above 80 – 120 km/h, where current models struggle a lot. The Himalaya will have a 15 liter fuel tank with a mileage in the range of 30 – 35 kmpl. Like all other tourers in its segment, it has long-travel suspension with a mono shock at the rear and a tall side exhaust. There is also the option to add saddlebags which come as an optional accessory. This is Royal Enfield’s first foray into the touring bike segment, and with Continental GT sales on the wane, they have a long way to go on this model.
