Euro 2024: Cody Gakpo and Virgil van Dijk help Holland into semi-finals

Van Dijk led his country on Saturday night and completed the entire contest alongside his Liverpool team-mate with Ryan Gravenberch an unused substitute in Berlin.

Gakpo played a decisive role in his nation’s victory, initially being credited with the winner before later converting a Mert Muldur own goal.

Liverpool’s number 18 dove into the box to meet a low ball at the back post, prompting defender Muldur to turn the ball into his own net with a slick challenge.

Turkiye took the lead early in the first half through Samet Akaydin, although their lead disappeared within six seconds after Stefan de Vrij’s header had initially leveled the game in the 70th minute.

Having secured victory, the Netherlands will now face England in the last four of the competition on Wednesday night (kick-off 20:00 BST).
