The journalist believes the international would love to sign for Leeds

Journalist Graham Smyth believes the player is likely to jump at the chance to sign for Leeds United this summer and has suggested he could be available for a modest fee.

Leeds have, perhaps unsurprisingly, been more involved in player moves in the early stages of the window, with Archie Gray being the most prominent departure so far. Kristoffer Klaesson may be the next name through the door at Elland Road.

Whites fans will be hoping the focus will soon shift to other signings, with Joe Rodon’s loan deal from Tottenham now a permanent move. And one of the priority positions will definitely be right back.

Gray spent most of last season in that position, while Sam Byram can obviously play there. But Byram has struggled with injuries and Leeds loaned out Djed Spence and Connor Roberts last campaign.

Connor Roberts can jump at the chance to get Leeds back on track

Spence’s loan spell didn’t really work out, while Roberts showed flashes without ever establishing himself as a key man for Daniel Farke’s side. Meanwhile, it’s pretty hard to see Rasmus Kristensen playing for Leeds again.

There have been suggestions that Leeds want to bring Roberts back this summer. And when asked about the prospect of the 28-year-old’s return, Graham Smyth wrote on X that he did not believe the Welshman would have reservations about returning…

A simple idea if Burnley is open to low fees

Some may be divided on the prospect of Roberts’ return. He failed to force his way into the starting lineup regularly in the second half of the season.

However, he was clearly a popular member of the squad, with Leeds having a strong contingent of Welsh players. And there were times when Roberts appeared to take a leadership role as the promotion race neared the finish line.

If Burnley are open to letting Roberts leave on the cheap, then perhaps it becomes somewhat of a no-brainer for Leeds to make a move.
