Royal Enfield Meteor is much awaited now. There were several vehicle benchmarks during testing. This time the bike was spotted without camouflage. Know more about the launch of Royal Enfield Meteor and its features that set it apart from other Royal Enfield bikes.

New spy photos

The latest spy shots of the vehicle are completely undisguised. The bike has a glossy paint, with no other color to break the monotony. The engine is a chrome piece and attracts a lot of attention due to the color contrast.

As seen on previous models, there is a single bridge instrument cluster. The engine housing is also different from the regular 350 housing. The chain is on the left side and the right side has a disc brake. There is a split seat configuration, but it looks wide and feels comfortable.

With the new spy photos we notice that there will be 2 different engine colors. The first spy photos were seen with a completely black engine, but now the engine is seen in Chrome. We believe that Royal Enfield Meteor will come in two variants like Royal Enfield Thunderbird and Thunderbird X.

There is no branding on the bike so we expect the decal to give the bike a contrasting color. The engine is also a bit different with the push rod system being replaced by the SOHC setup as seen in many modern bikes. The engine appears to be air cooled, although an oil cooled engine would be expected to deal with the engine overheating issue. The Meteor was also seen with a new set of handlebar switches. These have never been seen on any other Royal Enfield bike and are expected to appear on all new bikes henceforth.

The vehicle’s gearbox is expected to be a 6-speed unit, offering better cruising speeds and efficiency figures. This bike has many high expectations in terms of change from Royal Enfield. But why was the launch delayed?

Delayed release

There was a rumor that the bike was slated to launch in June. Obviously, the company faced some problems in the production process due to the COVID-19 crisis. Also, launching a bike when there is not much buying positivity will be a risk for the company.

The sighting of an uncamouflaged test vehicle indicates that there’s a chance we’ll see a launch soon. So far, 2 colors on the bike have been confirmed from the spy shots. Black looks like a base color and this could be the base edition of the vehicle.
