Liverpool transfer news: Defender’s exit confirmed as agent holds talks with club chiefs

Liverpool are yet to make a signing this summer, but that could all be about to change.

New Reds boss Arne Slot has already set to work on Merseyside. And he will look to continue Jurgen Klopp’s excellent work with the club.

This includes welcoming new faces to the club. Klopp and his recruitment team have struck gold on several occasions in the past.

Liverpool announce Arroyo’s exit

Liverpool have announced the sale of forgotten defender Anderson Arroyo, without ever playing a game for the club. The Colombian arrived in 2018 from Fortaleza CEIF

But he has since been sent out on a series of loan spells and returns to Burgos after spending last season with the Spanish club.

A statement from the Reds said: “Anderson Arroyo has completed a permanent transfer from Liverpool to Burgos CF, subject to international clearance. The Colombian leaves the Reds six and a half years after arriving from Fortaleza CEIF in his native country.

“Arroyo spent most of his time with the club on loan, at Real Mallorca, KAA Gent, FK Mlada Boleslav, Salamanca CF UDS, Mirandes, Alaves, FC Andorra and Burgos.”

Talks with the Juventus star have been confirmed

New Juventus goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio’s agent has confirmed he held talks with Liverpool ahead of his move to Turin. “There were talks with Liverpool and obviously we were very pleased to hear from them,” Carlo Belloni told TV Play.

“However, I had no doubt about the choice after speaking with (Cristiano) Giuntoli (Juventus sporting director). We stayed loyal to Juve because it was what he wanted, what Juve wanted and Thiago Motta immediately came up with Di Gregorio’s name.”

Di Gregorio has since completed a £15m move to Juventus. He was signed as a potential replacement for former Arsenal star Wojciech Szczęsny.

The Van den Berg problem arises

Liverpool star Sepp van den Berg could find it difficult to seal a move this summer. PSV are interested in signing the defender.

But they may not be able to afford the Reds’ asking price. According to Eindhovens Dagblad, as reported by Voetbal Primeur, Liverpool want to invest around €20m (£17m) for Van den Berg.

PSV could afford it if they lower their asking price to €15m (£12.6m). The 22-year-old has two years left on his Liverpool contract.
