Mason Greenwood’s transfer timeline is ‘eager’ about Man United’s future

Manchester United’s Mason Greenwood is increasingly frustrated with his future at the club.

The 22-year-old striker, who spent last season on loan at Getafe, is likely to be sold this summer and wants to resolve his situation in the coming week. Greenwood was sent out on loan to Getafe last season to rejuvenate his career away from Old Trafford.

The England international has not played for the club since January 2022 following his arrest and subsequent charges of attempted rape, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and controlling and coercive behaviour. Greenwood denied these charges and they were dropped in February 2023.

The striker has scored six goals during his time in La Liga and is set to return to United this summer. However, it seems unlikely that he will play for the Reds again. The Mirror, via the Express, report that Greenwood is becoming “impatient” with the uncertainty surrounding his future and wants a resolution in the coming week.

A bid of £25m has reportedly been submitted from Valencia, but United are holding out for around £40m. Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Juventus, Lazio and Marseille are also said to be interested in the striker. Earlier this week it was reported that Greenwood had been advised not to join Erik ten Hag’s side in pre-season training.

According to HITC, both he and Jadon Sancho will not be welcomed back into the squad when the players return to their Carrington training base. Sancho had a falling out with Ten Hag in August last year over his omission from a Premier League defeat at Arsenal. The winger later expressed his frustration on Twitter, saying he had been scapegoated and pinned a statement to his profile.
