LIVE: Greater Manchester road CLOSED following ‘serious accident’ – latest updates

Police have closed a road in Greater Manchester following reports of a serious crash. Moor Road in Orrell, Wigan, is closed in both directions this morning (May 13).

The road is closed between Sefton Road and Wentworth Gardens, according to Inrix. Motorists are being warned to expect delays, including on surrounding roads such as Orrell Road.




The closure also affects bus services 665, 666, 667, 961, 962 and 963. A Stagecoach Manchester spokesperson posted on X (formerly Twitter): “We regret to report that due to a serious RTC on Moor Road from Orrell, the road is closed, the surrounding roads are heavily congested and services are expected to be significantly delayed, please. allow extra travel time this morning.”

The latest update from Inrix says: “Moor Road closed in both directions, traffic backed up due to accident from Wentworth Gardens to Sefton Road.”

Stagecoach Manchester tweeted earlier: “We regret to report that due to a serious RTC on Moor Road in Orrell the road is closed, surrounding roads are heavily congested and services are expected to be significantly delayed, please allow extra travel time this morning. “
