William, Prince of Wales to star in documentary about homelessness – Film News | Film-News.co.uk

Prince William is to appear in a new TV documentary series about his homelessness programme, Homewards.

Britain’s future king has set his sights on making rough sleeping, couch surfing and other forms of temporary accommodation a thing of the past with his ambitious initiative.

The two-part series, which has the working title Prince William: We Can End Homelessness, will go behind the scenes of the first year of the Homewards programme.

It will follow the Prince of Wales as he launches Homewards across the UK and will feature the journeys of those currently experiencing homelessness or who have lived the experience of the problem.

The documentary will also feature well-known supporters of the program alongside those leading individual projects across the UK.

Homewards is a five-year project launched by William in 2023 to bring together a range of individuals and organizations to develop tailored solutions for homelessness in Newport, South Wales, Poole, Bournemouth and Christchurch, Lambeth Borough, Belfast, Aberdeen and Sheffield from south london. .

Jo Clinton-Davis, Controller of Facts at ITV, said: “With access to the inner workings of this ambitious project and the work of Prince William and his team, we hope to share with viewers an insider’s view of how they are setting out. we are tackling an issue that concerns us all and affects so many of our fellow UK citizens.”

William has long been passionate about homelessness and is a royal patron of the charity The Passage, having visited one of their shelters with his mother Diana, Princess of Wales, when he was 11.

The series will air in the UK later this year.
