Heartwarming long-lost family reunion as mum meets daughter after 60 years

A Cornwall woman has opened up about the heartbreaking decision to give her baby up for adoption, leading to a tearful reunion 60 years later on ITV’s Long Lost Family.

At the age of 16, Ros, who is now 76 and lives in Cornwall, became pregnant, prompting her strict parents to push her for adoption, the Express reports.

To keep her pregnancy secret, she was sent more than 100 miles away to a mother and baby home in London, which was run by the Church of England, until her daughter Christine was born in March 1965.

Reflecting on the painful day he had to say goodbye to Christine, Ros said: “She was just gorgeous. She was fair, with a sweet face. It was the best thing. The best thing ever.

“The sister came to me and said you can go get the baby now and drop her off. I went to the nursery and picked her up and told her I loved her and she would take care of she”

Although Ros later married Tony, they were unable to have more children. Now, after six decades, she has been reunited with her only child, thanks to the diligent efforts of the Long Lost Family.

In an emotional episode due to air on Monday, it is revealed that Christine, now called Lyndsey, was adopted by a vicar and his wife in Kent. Lyndsey’s family history posed a significant challenge for the team, but ultimately it was her marriage that led to the discovery of her current location.
