Plans for Warwick retirement flats were revealed when the consultation was launched

A consultation has been launched on plans for new retirement flats in Warwick. It would see 47 one and two bedroom flats built on the corner of Vickers Way and Harbury Lane.

Developer McCarthy Stone is behind proposals to build on the vacant land north of the Co-operative Food. It says development is “much needed” in the area.

The apartments would have a shared lounge and “high quality landscaped gardens”. Early plans drawn up for the site also include a hotel-style guest suite and mobility scooter storage.

The developer says the Warwick Borough Local Plan highlights a growing need for this type of accommodation and says the proposals would help address this by allowing local older people to move into a more suitable home, close to friends and family . He offered to meet with neighbors and local councilors to discuss initial plans.

Simon Broomfield, Divisional Development Director of McCarthy Stone Midlands, said: “We are delighted to reveal our plans to provide much-needed retirement accommodation in Warwick. Our proposals would help address demand in the area by providing housing options for older people, while freeing up a wider housing market for local families and first-time buyers further down the chain.

“We are keen to develop a scheme that will make a positive contribution to the local community. We want to hear local views on our proposals before finalizing our planning application. I would encourage people to go online and view the proposals, where they can fill in our feedback form.”
