Birmingham City are heading for League One football next season, but it remains to be seen who will lead them into third place.

Tony Mowbray has been on sick leave and conflicting claims have circulated about his St Andrew’s future. It has been said that interim boss Gary Rowett will not remain at the helm following the relegation of the Championship.

Only time will tell exactly what happens, but the Blues know they need to sort things out sooner rather than later as they prepare for the 2024/25 campaign.

Now, it is claimed that Steve Bruce has expressed an interest in returning as Birmingham City manager should the job become vacant this summer.

Football Insider say the 63-year-old has “let it be known” to his former team that he would be open to taking the job if they make a managerial change. He has been out of work since being sacked by West Brom in October 2022, but is not yet ready to end his career in the dugout.
