Toys, flowers and heartbreaking tributes have been left for the child whose remains were found

Toys and flowers have been left in a heartbreaking tribute to the baby whose remains were found at a house in Wigan. Officers made the devastating discovery on Marsh Green last week.

Greater Manchester Police say they were called by a “partner agency” and responded to concerns for a person’s welfare before the remains were found. Five people, aged between 20 and 70, were arrested on suspicion of concealing an illegal death and burial.

All have since been released on bail. On Marsh Green this morning (April 15), at least a dozen bouquets of flowers were left at the scene in a colorful tribute to the little victim.

Stuffed toys – including an elephant, rabbit and dog – were also left for the baby, along with a handwritten tribute that read: “Rest in peace little one. Sleep well in the arms of the angels where you will be. loved and cherished as you should have been on Earth.”

Forensic officers searched for evidence on Saturday as shocked neighbors came to terms with the tragedy. Police say the incident is believed to be “isolated”.

Chief Superintendent Clare Jenkins, from GMP’s Wigan district, said on Saturday: “This is a truly heartbreaking discovery and we do not underestimate the impact this news will have on the local community. I would like to assure you that we have several teams of officers and specialist resources working diligently to find answers.

“You are likely to see an increased presence of our officers over the next week, if you have any concerns or would like to share confidential information please do not hesitate to speak to them. In the coming days we will learn more about the surrounding circumstances. this incident, but we are confident that this is isolated and that there is no threat to the general public.
