The popular Bristol Light Show is returning to the city center for the summer

One of Bristol Light Show’s standout installations is back for the summer. Entitled ‘Bristol is Always a Good Idea’, renowned artist Real Hackney Dave’s stunning installation will return to the city center from Tuesday (July 9).

Originally unveiled at this year’s Bristol Light Festival, where it illuminated Valentine Bridge, which links Castle Park to Finzels Reach, the artwork will now travel to various iconic locations across the city.

It will debut in Millennium Square tomorrow (July 9), before touring various locations, with local businesses able to enter a competition to host the bright pink installation. The artwork will also occupy a prime position next to Bristol Harbor Festival’s new Expression Stage.

In addition to the traveling installation, Bristol Is Always A Good Idea will feature stunning billboards across the city and beyond. These billboards will display iconic Bristol scenes overlaid with ‘Bristol is always a good idea’ artwork, enticing residents and visitors alike to explore all the city has to offer.

Vicky Lee, director of Bristol City Center BID, said: “Hackney Dave’s real art is a reminder of everything people love about our city. Everyone’s reasons for loving the city are so varied – from the many great businesses the city center is home to, to the beautiful green spaces and the huge cultural range of things to do. Our summer campaign and the return of this famous Bristol Festival of Lights artwork is sure to drive footfall in the city center as visitors and residents alike come to enjoy their favorite things about Bristol.”

Jon Chamberlain, Head of Marketing at Visit West, said: “We wanted to showcase everything that makes Bristol such a unique and welcoming cultural destination. Whether it’s creativity, attractions, food and drink, events and festivals, or just amazing people, Bristol is always a good idea. This is especially true in summer, and Real Hackney Dave’s artwork is a fitting tribute to this.”
