The driver is fighting for his life after the Mercedes crashed into the wall of the Huddersfield pub

A driver suffered life-threatening injuries when his Mercedes crashed into a stone wall and two parked vehicles outside a Huddersfield pub.

West Yorkshire Police is appealing for witnesses to Saturday night’s collision in Shepley.




Police received a call at 9.34pm on Saturday reporting a car on its roof in Penistone Road, Shepley. The black Mercedes A180 was reported to have collided with a stone wall outside The Sovereign pub and two vehicles parked in the car park, police said.

A spokesman for the Force said: “The driver and sole occupant of the Mercedes, a man in his 20s, was taken to hospital where his injuries are described as life-threatening.”

Anyone who witnessed this collision or the events leading up to it is asked to contact the Road Policing Unit via Live Chat online or by calling 101.

Officers are particularly keen to speak to anyone who has relevant CCTV or dash cam footage.
