I went to Ibiza from the UK

STAYCATIONS became big business when the Covid-19 pandemic stopped most of us from going.

And now tourists claim Britain has its own answer to iconic party island Ibiza.

You’ll have to travel to the southwestern tip of the British Isles to get a slice of Spain, though.

The British refer to Cornwall as the “Ibiza of the United Kingdom”.

The county is often associated with beautiful beaches, stunning coastal scenery and a vibrant summer tourism scene, just like Ibiza.

And now, beach parties and big-ticket music events are also becoming a staple in the seaside destination.

One events company has even promised that the Cornwall coast is “the closest you’ll get to Ibiza without getting on a plane”.

However, the Brits noticed a key difference between the two locations… the difference in price.

“In Cornwall, I can go home after the party and not pay ridiculous prices for entry and drinks,” said one local.

Another local said the county “only lowkey has better vibes” than the Spanish island.

Thanks to the beautiful May weather over the weekend, hundreds of Brits flocked to Newquay for an Ibiza-style night out.

The popular town of Cornwall is on the north coast and is famous for its sandy beaches and Fistral and Watergate Bay.

Revelers headed there for beach parties in 23 degree weather on Saturday 11 May.

Content creator Amy Nicholson took to TikTok to ask: “Cornwall or Ibiza?”

She shared a video from Fistral Beach Bar, which showed hundreds of revelers grooving to the music on the beach.

The bar hosted its first patio party of 2024 on Saturday.

“If you haven’t been to one of our legendary patio parties, where have you been?” an event information is read.

“Newquay’s most talked about summer parties are happening right here at Fistral Beach Bar and are not to be missed!

“Starting at 6pm, with Latin house beats and disco flavours, DeluxX and Ant Durkin take to the decks and sax maestro Paul Haywood tears it up on the terrace.

“Our amazing samba dancers will once again sprinkle some South American magic all over our Copacabana party.

“Dance the night away with a cocktail in hand as you watch the sun set over the UK’s best surfing beach.

“It’ll be the closest you’ll get to Ibiza without getting on a plane.”
