Newcastle have clarified plans for Anthony Gordon amid Liverpool’s transfer interest

As pre-season training gets under way, Newcastle United are preparing to give Anthony Gordon a warm welcome.

Gordon remains with England’s Euro 2024 squad but was not called up during the last 16 win over Switzerland. The former Everton man will miss the initial phase of Newcastle’s summer preparations for the upcoming 2024/25 season and is set to join up with his club after a much-deserved summer break following the Euros.

Liverpool have shown interest in Gordon, who was speculated to have been offered in exchange for Jarell Quansah last month. However, there has been no further progress from the Reds regarding Gordon.

Currently, the immediate plan is to facilitate Gordon’s smooth transition into pre-season, where Eddie Howe and the team expect him to play a key role in Newcastle’s campaign strategy.

Contrary to some reports, Newcastle have neither entertained nor received any inquiries or proposals from Man City regarding their star asset.

Gordon, who is 23, is likely to be promoted into Newcastle’s senior management group this summer. The board are also considering the terms of a contract renewal for Gordon, hinting at Newcastle’s long-term plans for the player.
