Royal Enfield electric bike design patent reveals details

Royal Enfield aims to enter the electric two-wheeler segment in the coming years. The brand’s first electric vehicle offering has finally been revealed in a patent image, showing off its classic bobber styling with a retro-styled round headlight, saddle seat and pronounced rear wing. A saree guard can also be spotted, suggesting that there will be an option for a passenger seat. The bike features a distinctively designed fuel tank, reinforced swingarm and beam fork.

The patent image also revealed that the upcoming Royal Enfield electric bike will have a battery pack positioned between the chassis. However, there is no word on its powertrain, range and performance at the moment. Codenamed Electrik01, the EV will be built on the new ‘L’ platform. The same architecture will be used for RE’s upcoming electric bikes, which will be jointly developed by RE and Stark Future SL – the Spanish electric two-wheeler manufacturer. The RE e-bike is expected to make its global debut towards the end of 2025, with its India launch likely in 2026.

It aims to achieve a production capacity of 1.5 lakh electric vehicles annually. The upcoming Royal Enfield electric bike will be manufactured at Cheyyar’s new facility in Chennai. With its electric offerings, RE will target premium motorcycle buyers.

In other new updates, Royal Enfield is all set to launch Guerrilla 450 on July 17, 2024. The launch event is scheduled to take place in Barcelona, Spain. More spy shots of the upcoming RE bike reveal that the model will feature a Tripper TFT dash, similar to what’s seen on the Hunter, and will come in a two-tone red and gold paint scheme (which could be reserved for a superior variant).
