Police appeal as 16-year-old girl targeted in ‘serious’ sexual assault

Police are appealing for information after a teenager was subjected to a “serious” sexual assault in Leicester city center. Leicestershire Police is asking for the public’s help to identify a man who might have information which could help the investigation.

The force said the incident happened at the junction of Gladstone Street and Clyde Street in the early hours of Sunday, June 23. It has released a CCTV image of a man detectives want to identify.

Detective Constable Sarah Le Boutillier, the investigating officer, said: “From inquiries carried out since the incident occurred, I believe this man may have information that could help. If you recognize him and know who he is, then please get in touch. If that person is you, then please do get in touch.

“I’d also like to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time – perhaps making their way home from a night out – as you may also be able to help. Anything you can provide, including dash cam or CCTV footage, could assist us.
