A suspected dealer was caught ‘throwing pills into a pond’ by Coventry police

An alleged drug dealer has been caught trying to ‘throw pills into a pond’ in a Coventry park. Officers patrolling Swanswell Park observed a man attempting to throw suspected drugs into the water.

He was stopped, detained and searched and officers found a small bag containing unknown pills. The team says the pills have been identified and will be investigated pending a drug test.

It was not the only ‘stop and search’ carried out by the St Michael’s neighborhood team. In Corporation Street, they arrested a 52-year-old suspect wanted for a series of bike thefts in the city. Officers conducted a stop and search while the suspect was detained, but found nothing.

But they said the man remains in custody pending further questioning. Shortly after, the police stopped and searched a 49-year-old man in the city center.

During this, they found a number of sharp objects, so the man was arrested on suspicion of being in possession of a bladed article. After checking his details, officers also discovered he was wanted for failing to appear in court.

The team said cracking down on drug dealing, theft and knife crime was a “priority” and urged anyone who spots any suspicious activity to call 101 or visit the police website here.
