Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 Spied Testing Again, Launching Soon

Royal Enfield will most likely introduce the Guerrilla 450 in India next month or early July; it will have a lot in common with the Himalaya 450

Royal Enfield has conducted extensive testing of its upcoming neo-retro naked roadster in India, incorporating design cues reminiscent of the Hunter 350. Speculations suggest it could be called the ‘Guerrilla 450’, positioning it as a more premium and powerful option compared to the entry-level roadster. It will share various components and mechanical bits with the latest Himalayan 450.

The Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 is slated to debut towards the end of next month or early July and has been spotted testing again near the brand’s manufacturing facility in Chennai. Positioned to rival the Triumph Speed 400, it will be priced competitively in the vicinity of Rs. 2.5 lakh (ex-showroom) and will also boast notable differences compared to its adv sibling despite sharing the platform.

The new spy shot also indicates the absence of upside-down forks, as a conventional telescopic setup has been used with black fork seals. It makes us wonder if the Guerrilla 450 will even undercut the already aggressively priced Speed 400 to gain a competitive edge while maintaining the same performance standards as the Himalayan 450.

The Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 is powered by a 452cc liquid-cooled DOHC single cylinder engine. This engine delivers a maximum power of 40.02 PS at 8,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 40 Nm at 5,500 rpm. Along with a six-speed transmission, the bike will get a standard slipper and assist clutch and a floating circular TFT instrument cluster like its sibling.

The Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 will be fitted with 17-inch black alloy wheels and use a compensated monoshock for rear suspension duties, while the telescopic units will have a shorter stroke and the total wheelbase could also be shorter. Braking duties will be handled by disc brakes at both the front and rear, supported by a dual-channel ABS system.

We expect the Guerrilla 450, whose trademark logo was launched recently, to come with good touring abilities while being lighter than the Himalayan and suspension tuned for road use. It will have strong low and midrange performance like the Himalayan. The equipment list will include a side-mounted exhaust system and split seats just like the adv, touring accessory mounts, Bluetooth connectivity and navigation, ride modes, possibly switchable rear ABS and ride-by-wire throttle system.
