Cornwall police charge woman with 33 offenses for assaulting another woman

A 33-year-old woman is facing 33 charges following police investigations into several incidents.

Police alleged the woman violated various probation orders between Aug. 4, 2021, and May 21. Police alleged the woman assaulted her girlfriend, assaulted the woman with a weapon, bit her, choked her, and damaged her property on March 29; that she damaged the woman’s property on April 7; that she assaulted and threatened to kill the woman on May 3; and, that she sexually assaulted the woman, bit her, assaulted her with a weapon, choked her, and threatened to kill her on June 29. Police also alleged the woman removed merchandise from a Ninth Street East business without paying for it on June 16 She was located and taken into police custody on Saturday.

The woman, whose identity was not released, was charged with sexual assault; four counts of domestic assault; two counts of domestic assault with a weapon; two counts of domestic assault causing bodily harm; two counts of domestic assault causing bodily harm – choke, suffocate, or strangle; two counts of domestic uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm; uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm; domestic mischief; mischief under $5,000; theft under $5,000; and, 13 counts of breaching probation for not attending assessment programs as directed by her probation officer, not reporting to her probation officer, not living at an approved address, and failing to keep the peace.

13 charges

A 42-year-old man from Akwesasne is facing 13 charges stemming from several police investigations.

Police alleged the man removed merchandise from a Ninth Street West business on June 6 without paying for it, that he broke into a Pitt Street business on June 13 and stole several items, and that he removed merchandise from a Ninth Street East business on June 27 without paying for it. Police also alleged that the man broke into the residence of someone he knows on June 27, then assaulted that person with a bat, assaulted that person, injured the other person’s dog, and damaged property. He was located and taken into police custody on Sunday.

Travis Cook, 42, was charged with robbery with violence; assault with a weapon; killing or injuring animals; possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order; possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose; mischief over $5,000; two counts of break and enter a place – commit indictable offense; two counts of theft under $5,000; and, three counts of breach of probation for possessing a weapon and failing to keep the peace.

He was held in police custody pending a bail hearing in Cornwall court.

Assault, weapon, noxious thing

A 15-year-old boy from Cornwall is facing five charges after the police investigated a complaint.

Police alleged the teen assaulted someone else using bear spray on June 21, and that he was in possession of bear spray on Saturday. He was taken into police custody on Saturday.

The teen, whose identity cannot be released under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was charged with two counts of assault with a weapon; administer noxious thing; and, two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

He was released from police custody to appear in Cornwall court at an undisclosed later date.

Assault

A 21-year-old woman from Cornwall is facing a charge after the police investigated a complaint.

Police alleged the woman assaulted her spouse on Sunday. She was taken into police custody on Monday.

The woman, whose identity was not released, was charged with domestic assault.

She was released from police custody to appear in Cornwall court on July 30.

Threats, resist officers, weapons

A 37-year-old man from Cornwall is facing eight charges after police responded to a call on Saturday.

Police alleged the man threatened to kill someone else, and then resisted arrest. Police also alleged that the man had firearms and ammunition in his residence, contrary to conditions on his possession and acquisition license.

The man, whose identity was not released, was charged with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm; resist peace officer; unauthorized possession of a weapon; and, five counts of breaching firearms regulations for having firearms and ammunition in his possession.

He was released from police custody to appear in Cornwall court on Aug. 8.

Harassment, indecent act

A 36-year-old man from Cornwall is facing two charges following a police investigation into complaints about his conduct.

Police alleged the man sent inappropriate messages to a woman he knows between Jan. 10 and March 2, and exposed himself to her. A warrant was issued for his arrest. He was taken into custody at police headquarters on Thursday.

Adam Macey, 36, was charged with criminal harassment – ​​repeatedly communicating, and indecent act.

Six charges

A 27-year-old woman from Cornwall is facing six charges following a series of events.

Police alleged the woman failed to attend court on June 26, after which a warrant was issued for her arrest. When officers located her on Thursday, they alleged she provided a false name, and when taken into custody was in possession of quantities of fentanyl, methamphetamine, psilocybin, and Xanax, as well as a large quantity of cash, other controlled drugs, and drug -trafficking paraphernalia.

Rebecca Kargus, 27, was charged with possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – opioid; possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamine; possession of a Schedule III substance for the purpose of trafficking; possession of a Schedule IV substance for the purpose of trafficking; possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000; and, personation with intent to avoid arrest, prosecution, or obstruct justice.

She was held in police custody pending a bail hearing in Cornwall court.

Disturbances, breaches

A 38-year-old man from Cornwall is facing nine charges after police responded to a disturbance call on Sunday.

Police alleged the man breached release conditions on May 13 relating to his bail and residency. When responding to an excessive-noise complaint on Sunday, police located the man and alleged he was violating his curfew, and was outside his residence with alcohol in his body.

Shane Gougeon, 38, was charged with causing a disturbance; breach of undertaking for changing his address; and seven counts of breach of a release order for not reporting to his bail-supervision program and changing his address.

A 30-year-old man from Cornwall is facing charges after police responded to a call on Sunday.

The police alleged that the man was operating his vehicle under the influence of alcohol.

Richard Cloutier, 30, was charged with impaired operation, and over 0.08.

A 33-year-old man from Cornwall is facing a charge after a police traffic stop on Thursday.

A 26-year-old woman from Cornwall is facing two charges after a police investigation.

Police alleged the woman stole a bicycle from someone else’s residence on June 26. She was taken into custody at police headquarters on Thursday.

Laura Buckley, 26, was charged with theft under $5,000, and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace.

She was released from police custody to appear in Cornwall court on Aug. 8.

Theft

A 26-year-old woman from Cornwall is facing a charge after police investigated a complaint from a Second Street East business.

Police alleged the woman removed merchandise from the business without paying for it on June 14. She was located and taken into police custody on Thursday.

Megan Julien, 26, was charged with theft under $5,000.

She was held in police custody pending a bail hearing in Cornwall court.
