Patchway fire: Video shows several vehicles on fire as firefighters tackle the blaze near the Travelodge

A huge fire broke out in Patchway this morning (Monday 13 May) with several vehicles well alight. Images from the scene of the fire show plumes of black smoke rising into the air.

Crews from Patchway, Southmead, Temple and Thornbury were called to the fire on Gloucester Road at 10.15am. According to traffic monitoring website Inrix, the fire broke out between Travelodge and CarShop Bristol.




At the time of writing (11.50am), the A38 Gloucester Road remains closed southbound. Firefighters are using 45mm jets and hose reels to extinguish the flames.

Avon Fire and Rescue Service said: “Crews from Patchway, Southmead, Temple and Thornbury were called at 10.15am to reports of a fire at a retail shop off Gloucester Road, Patchway.


“On arrival firefighters found several vehicles well alight and are using 45mm jets and high pressure hose reels to tackle the fire.”
