LIVE: Police cordon off main road in Manchester city center – latest updates

A police cordon is in place along a stretch of a main road in Manchester city center this morning.

Police blocked off part of Great Ancoats Street, close to the junction with Store Street, after a crash. Footage shows several police vehicles at the scene.




According to traffic alert service Inrix, the north side of Great Ancoats Street has been closed. The closure is in effect between Store Street and Lomax Street.

The accident allegedly involved a car and a truck. Traffic is heavy on the busy road with queues in the city centre.

According to the Inrix road alert service, traffic is heavy in the area and the north side of Great Ancoats Street remains blocked.

No serious injuries – GMP

A GMP spokesman confirmed that no serious injuries were reported in this morning’s accident.

Great Ancoats Street now ‘partially blocked’

The road is now “partially blocked” on the northbound side, according to traffic alert service Inrix.

Traffic remains heavy on Great Ancoats Street.
