Wakefield: Man arrested for theft and sexual assault on woman

A 30-year-old man has been arrested following a burglary and sexual assault of a woman in the Wakefield section of the Bronx, police said.

The NYPD asked for the public’s help in identifying the person seen in the attached video and photo who they said was wanted in connection with the incident.

Police said that around 4:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 29, in the vicinity of East 230th Street and White Plains Road, an unidentified individual entered the home of a 20-year-old female victim. “Once inside, the unknown person sexually assaulted the victim,” a police spokesman said. “The unidentified individual then fled the location on foot.”

The suspect was described as male and was last seen wearing a white tank top, dark shorts and white socks.

In accordance with the ongoing investigation, police said Claudio Miranda of East 230th Street in Wakefield, Bronx was arrested on Monday, July 8 at 9:50 a.m. in the 41st. Precinct, which covers the neighborhoods of Hunts Point and Longwood.

Police said he was charged with third degree bhowling, first degree criminal sexual act and witness bribery. He is presumed innocent unless and until convicted by a court of law.
