Spanish police are searching for missing British teenager Jay Slater

Spanish police have released an update on the search for missing teenager Jay Slater, saying they have not given up hope. A source close to the case said investigators have not concluded that Jay is dead and are still pursuing multiple lines of inquiry.

A spokesman for the Civil Guard said: “The investigation is ongoing and several lines of inquiry are being pursued.” The 19-year-old Briton, from Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire, went missing three weeks ago after attending a rave in Playa de las Americas. Tenerife.

Police called off the official search after two weeks. Jay’s father, Warren, and brother, Zak, were hiking through the mountain region where his phone last rang. And yesterday, July 8, Warren asked the British authorities to get involved and help find her son.

Lancashire Police had previously offered to help find the missing teenager, but local authorities declined the approach. Yesterday, Warren told The Mirror that he had expanded the search from the Barranco de Juan Lopez Valley, where Jay’s phone last rang, to the neighboring Los Carrizales Valley.

Warren said it would take an army 10 years to search all the rugged mountain terrain. Apprentice bricklayer Jay went missing on the Spanish island on June 17.

He was last seen leaving an Airbnb in the north of the island, near the village of Masca. The teenager, who was on holiday with friends Lucy, 18, and Brad Hargreaves, 19, had previously been partying at Papagayo nightclub in Playa de las Americas. He left the event with two Britons to return to the rental property.

Warren said: “It’s just us. I don’t have a team. We need a team to come here and find out for us what the police are doing and what we need to do. Our hands are tied here, we need experts. how long can you stay here It would take an army 10 years to cover all of that. I would hire a team of Gurkhas.” Warren added: “We did the valley where his ping was, we went up the road to a lookout, there are cliffs and there’s a valley and a village there.”
