Close to Cornwall’s Land’s End is a hidden beach that’s a 15-20 minute walk from the nearest car park, making it the perfect off-the-beaten-track spot for peace and quiet.

Nanjizal Beach, also known as Mill Bay, is a stunningly beautiful little bay that remains relatively untouched due to its remote location and lack of nearby amenities.

Not only perfect for relaxing, Nanjizal is also a great place for those who want to explore, with an abundance of caves and rock formations to keep you busy.

On the southern side of the beach is a stunning rock arch known as Song of the Sea or Zawn Pyg, which usually has refreshingly clear water.

CornishSecrets recommends staying at the beach until late afternoon for a stunning view of the sun shining through the arch.

While swimming in the sea is not recommended while visiting Nanjizal, with its remote location meaning there are no lifeguards nearby, there are two pools in the cave below the arch.

These are called the Big and Little Muzzan and are a great place to swim when the sea is calm. Although, Cornwall Beaches warns that the far end of the cave is sometimes affected by Atlantic swells, which can sometimes be very strong.

If cave swimming isn’t quite your thing, there’s plenty of wildlife to spot at Nanjizal. Birds including Chiffchaffs, Whitethroat and Blackcap are known to breed in the area.
