CCTV issued after Coventry landmark vandalized as police search for man

Police have released a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to after vandalizing the Naiad statue. They say they need to find out who and where he is.

It follows the vandalism of the statue, which was found “broken from its mounts” in the upper precinct last month. It had to be repaired and reinstalled with improved fasteners, making it “harder for people to move it in the future”.

A police investigation is underway. Coventry Police said: “We want to speak to this man after the Naiad statue in Coventry city center was vandalised.

“The statue was damaged and moved from the plinth in the upper enclosure around 12.30pm on April 24. Contact us via Live Chat or by calling 101 and quote 20/437586/24.”

The piece of public art has had various homes in the city and was moved to the Upper Precinct when Coventry became City of Culture in 2021.
