Liverpool have lost the Everton legend’s son to a “massive” transfer request.

Zac Jagielka, son of former Everton star Phil, has left Liverpool to sign for Hull City.

The forward, who is a Wales under-17 international, progressed through the Reds’ academy after joining them at 13. But the ECHO’s Hull Live website reported earlier this month that the teenager was on trial with the Tigers.

The Championship side have now confirmed the signing of Jagielka, with the attacking side boasting a number of 12 new first-year scholarship signings who have signed two-year scholarships with the club.

Father Phil Jagielka, who made 385 appearances in 12 seasons with Everton and managed the club for six years, reacted to Jagielka Jnr’s move on Instagram. Sharing Hull Academy’s story confirming their new entry, with their picture of Zac, he wrote: ‘Go on the tiger’, accompanied by a Tiger emoji.

Jagielka will now predominantly play for Hull’s Under-18 side in the Professional Development League ahead of the 2024/25 season.

Speaking about his new arrivals, Tigers coach Chad Gribble said: “I’m really excited about the new group of guys coming in. It will be a different dynamic.
