Youths ‘spitting and stoning’ on Nuneaton car park roof told to stay away from town

A young man suspected of being involved in “spitting and stone-throwing” from the roof of a Nuneaton car park has been warned to stay away from the town centre. Locals were left disgusted by the scenes at the top of the Harefield Road car park on Monday.

Reports said youths were “spitting and throwing stones” from the roof of the multi-storey car park. The police were called, but when they arrived, the group had disappeared.

But it has been confirmed to CoventryLive that one of the young suspects, who has not been named, has since been given a community protection warning. CPW Police say this is as a result of his continued behavior in the city centre.

The CPW warns him to stay away from the town centre, but if this is breached the police can apply for a more stringent Community Protection Notice (CPN). If there is a CPN, it could lead to criminal action.

Inspector Ryan Walker said: “Officers attended this incident but unfortunately the group had dispersed by the time they arrived.

“One of the men we believe was involved in this incident was issued a community protection warning yesterday in response to ongoing concerns about his behavior in the city centre. This is a warning telling him not to come into the city center and is the first step towards taking more serious action to address concerns about his behaviour.
