Ski slope set to open – in south Wiltshire – next month | The New Blackmore Vale Magazine

SKIERS – whether starting out on the slopes or a veteran of the piste – will be able to practice their skills in south Wiltshire next month.

South Wilts Ski is opening an indoor slope at a former tractor workshop at Bapton, between Salisbury and Warminster, on August 5.

Bosses of the new venture promise a slope suitable for skiers of all abilities, with coaching and equipment hire available for those starting out on the slopes.

“The slope has been installed, we have a full-time ski instructor and we are now just decorating the clubhouse area,” a spokesperson said.

The Maxxtracks infinity slope means people can ski for as long as they like, without the trek up the mountain.

“On a dry slope you spend eight seconds going down and five minutes getting back up again,” the spokesperson said.

“Even on a mountain you can spend five minutes skiing down and 20 minutes getting back up again.

“You can get as much practice in one hour on our slope as you would on a whole day in a resort.”

People will be able to book half-hour and hour-long slots on the slope, they said.

More information on the opening – and how to book – will be available in the coming weeks.
