Lambeth council chief executive resigns after probe into drink and drug use – South London News

The head of Lambeth council has announced his resignation after being charged with drink-driving, possession of class A drugs and failing to stop after a road traffic accident.

Bayo Dosunmu will step down as chief executive of Lambeth from 15 July.

A spokesperson for Lambeth Council said: “Fiona Connolly is currently acting Chief Executive and the Council will soon begin the process of recruiting a permanent Chief Executive.”

Mr Dosunmu, 46, from Hammersmith, was arrested by police in Westminster on June 23.

The Met said Mr Dosunmu was charged the next day with possession of a Class A controlled drug, failing to stop after a road traffic accident, driving over the alcohol limit and using a motor vehicle in a public place without third party insurance.

He will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on August 1.

Mr Dosunmu is the board’s chief executive from April 2022, taking over from Andrew Travers. He joined Lambeth in 2019 from Homes England and was previously the council’s deputy chief executive and strategic director for resident services.
