Police launch CCTV appeal after hate crime at Sheffield takeaway

Sheffield Police have launched a CCTV appeal following a reported hate crime at a takeaway in the city.

According to South Yorkshire Police, at 10.30pm on June 22, a man attended a takeaway on Chapel Street in the Woodhouse area of ​​Sheffield and verbally abused members of staff.



The man allegedly used racist language and was threatening and aggressive towards staff. The force said their inquiries are ongoing and have released a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to in connection with this incident.

The man in the image is described by police as white, 6ft tall, around 35 years old and of stocky build. He has short, receding black hair and a short beard and is missing two front teeth.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “Do you recognize him? You can report information to us online, via live chat or by calling 101 quoting inquiry number 14/114089/24.

“You can access our online portal here. Alternatively, you can provide information anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111 or online.”
