Fireworks Spectacular and Kim Mitchell’s Canada Day Rock Cornwall

The July 1st Cornwall Canada Day celebration was outstanding, attracting approximately 20,000 attendees to Lamoureux Park. The day featured a mix of activities, culminating in a headlining performance by Canadian rock icon Kim Mitchell, followed by fireworks.

The celebration included a pop-up vendor market, the Optimist Club Beer Garden and family activities such as a Splash Pad and a Kids Zone. Attendees also enjoyed various food trucks and live musical entertainment along the St. Lawrence.

The musical lineup began after the opening ceremonies and a flight of the Snowbirds, with performances by artists such as Mason Bruyere and Shake the Tree. Kim Mitchell, a multi-platinum, Juno Award-winning rock icon, closed out the evening with her classic rock anthems before the fireworks began.

“This committee has nine people and it took about six months to put this together. It takes cooperation with the city, with the sponsors, with everyone to make this happen,” said Amanda Brisson, chair of the Cornwall Canada Day Committee.

Brisson expressed his excitement over the clear skies and enthusiastic turnout. “Cornwall hasn’t always had the best weather on Canada Day. However, this year, with clear skies and a packed park from very early in the day and well into the night, we are so happy. We can’t tell you how proud we are that Kim Mitchell is here to play in front of a crowd.”

The celebration ended with a spectacular 17-minute fireworks display, leaving attendees in awe. “We are proud of our fireworks. We have a company come in and put on a nice display. I think everyone will like it,” Brisson added.
