The experienced frontman, of course, is the son of City legend Dean and has been continuously linked with a move to the MKM Stadium, and the latest links are perhaps understandably so, with Stoke City and West Brom also said to be considering to close it. to a free transfer.

Speaking on the EFL Podcast with 1904 club regular David Prutton, Windass suggested his future at Hillsborough will depend heavily on what happens with boss Danny Rohl. The German has been linked with moves given the uncertainty surrounding owner Dejphon Chansiri, with City themselves eyeing the Owls boss.

“Right now, I don’t really know. I know the club is now talking to my agent about the next few years. I’m going on holiday and I still don’t know what’s going on with Danny,” Windass said.

“I think so, yes. But obviously I want to be at the club anyway. We’ve had such an affiliation and had so much fun for the last three or four years. But Danny is a big part, I think for most guys, to be honest. I think we feel like next year we can go to even bigger things.”
